If we told you we got your kids to not only make their own, but actually eat, a bowl of salad, would you believe us? There's proof below, but I'd say nutrition week was a success!
Third grade had a busy week - we jumped right into nutrition by focusing on the plant, all of its' parts and what each part's job was. Students made an interactive diagram that showed the outside and inside of a flower. We carried that knowledge over to our cooking project for the week where we used every single part of the plant to make a salad! Our recipe was as follows:
Corn (Seeds)
Carrot (Root)
Celery (Stem)
Lettuce (Leaf)
Broccoli (Flower)
Red Pepper (Fruit)
In between we spent our time preparing for family night by making detailed self portraits for a game of Guess Who. The pictures came out great and will soon be hanging up in our room!
Family night was Thursday evening and was awesome! Thank you to everyone who came, made a few crafts and contributed some delicious food. The menu was outstanding and the company was fantastic. We truly enjoyed getting to know the families of our students and hope that if you didn't get a chance to make it, you still take some time to pop in and join us for a project when you pick your child up. We love the company and hope you know that you are always welcome!
Now that it's officially October, our theme for the month will be "Feeling Fall" - and we'll get the ball rolling with "Five Senses" week on Monday.
See you then!
