This week in third grade, we had a lot of exciting things going on! First off, we welcomed a new permanent teacher to the third grade classroom, Mr. Nick, who came from second grade. Although Mr. Nick has been with us before on certain occasions, he is now in third grade for good! We were all happy to welcome him, but very sad to see Ms. Bailey leave. We will all miss her very much and wish her the best of luck in her new art teaching position in the Braintree Schools!
For a theme this week, we focused on Hidden Talents. On slips of paper, we all wrote down any hidden talents we had in addition to talents we wish that we could have! Talents included anything from sports to cooking to being able to do a handstand underwater! After writing our talents down anonymously, we put them into one bucket. We each took turns pulling talents out of the bucket and acting them out. After, we shared whose talent it was.
We also learned about the hidden “talents” of animals this week. In small groups, we played the “What am I?” game. Students were given a list of clues of different talents of animals and a word bank of animals. They worked together to try and determine which talents belonged to which animals. Did you know that penguins could jump 6 feet in the air?? Or did you know that spiders could travel miles out to sea on their strands of silk that they create?? Just like us, there are so many hidden talents of animals we did not know about! We then played Animal Talent Bingo!
Be sure to check back next week as we explore the theme of Dance!
